About Me

My Story

I was born and raised in the small town of Johnston, Rhode Island and graduated in 2014 from St. Mary’s Academy - Bay View High School in Riverside. After high school I attended the University of Rhode Island (URI) and graduated in the spring of 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. I am currently studying for my Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at Rhode Island College.

Throughout my time at URI I was involved in many different volunteer practicum experiences; including Jumpstart, Second Step, Rhody Readers, and Inspiring Minds. Each of these organizations helped allow my passion for education grow and bloom me into a certified educator. I concluded my college career student teaching in a 3rd grade classroom at Lippitt Elementary School. After completing student teaching I was offered a job to teach literacy and science to Providence Public School children as a way to combat the “summer slide”. I currently substitute teach in Johnston, Lincoln, and North Kingston School Districts. My desire for my own classroom is as strong as ever and my hope is to continue subbing until I am offered a more concrete position in New England.

I recently completed a Long Term Subbing Position from Oct. 2018 to June 2019 as a stand-in Early Childhood Special Educator in an Integrated Preschool Setting. I was responsible for 21 students, including 7 IEPs and 2 Behavior Safety Plans. Although this job did not fall in my certification area it helped me familiarize myself with IEP writing, data collection, and upholding positive parent-teacher communication.
